A member of The American Watercolor Society, The Florida Watercolor Society and Founder of the International Society of Experimental Artist , Maxine Masterfield is known for her innovative techniques in water-wased paint and mixed media combinations.

Both of her books "In Harmony with Nature and Painting the Spirit of Nature" (published by Watson-Guptill in 1984 and 1990 respectively) deal with non-traditional materials such as cellophane and plastics to accentuate natural forms in painting.
